I haven't posted since the 15th. School got busy, swimming sports got busier, and the laptop has mostly been closed. Quick update on where I've been and what's coming next.
Hi. I know. It's been almost two weeks. The last post on here is from the 15th of June and I can feel it staring at me every time I open the site.
Here's the honest reason: school went into end-of-term overdrive at exactly the same time as swimming sports, and the two of them basically held my calendar hostage.
The labs are still here, still working, still being used - I can see the little visitor numbers tick up even when I'm not posting. That's actually really nice. It means the site doesn't fully need me hovering over it every day, which is the whole point of building something properly.
What's coming next, now that the pool has released me:
- A proper post about the new Media and Truth labs (Headline Decoder, Deepfake Detective, Algorithm Lab, Newsroom Simulator). I want to talk about why I added them and what I learned making them. - A behind-the-scenes on how I actually research a lab. Spoiler: it involves a lot of tabs and at least one phone call to a real grown-up who knows the topic. - A short interview I've been trying to set up for months. Won't jinx it by naming names yet.
Thanks for being patient with the gap. Normal posting resumes this week. And if you sent me a message through the contact form in the last fortnight and I haven't replied - I see you, I'm getting to it, my inbox just looks like a swimming bag exploded.
One more thing. I keep getting asked who I am going to talk to next, and honestly I do not know yet. So: who should I meet next? Send me a name through the contact form and tell me why. I will read every single one.
