In one minute

Enrolment closes at midnight on Sunday 25 October 2026.

You need to be 18 or older to vote.

16 and 17 year olds can provisionally enrol, ready for when they turn 18.

Moved house? Your details need updating too.

Only the Electoral Commission at vote.nz can enrol you.

Why this matters

Every enrolled adult gets a say in who forms the next government. If a grown-up is not enrolled by the deadline, they will not be able to vote this time, even if they turn up at a voting place.

A conversation starter

You can't vote yet, but you can ask. A good question at dinner is: 'Are you enrolled, and is your address up to date?' It is not rude, and lots of adults are glad to be reminded.

Questions people ask

Can kids enrol?

People aged 16 and 17 can provisionally enrol. They are added to the roll automatically when they turn 18.

On vote.nz, the official Electoral Commission website, or by calling 0800 36 76 56.

Does Abby's Labs enrol people?
